THE STUDIO OF NICOLE MERKENS

I am happy and honored to say that I am now exhibiting my work at Taylor Kinzel Gallery in Roswell, Ga. Lots has happened since my last post. I have moved my studio to the Roswell Art Center West Location on Woodstock Road here in Roswell, Ga. I will now be apprenticing there and teaching classes and keep a working studio on the premises. Things are moving fast but its all good and I can not wait to be back on schedule again with my work and new responsibilities.  Then, I am happy to report that I won "Best in Show" at the Gilmer Arts Juried Exhibition last week. My piece "Quietly Blooming" Won and I was over the moon! The Opening was fun and chock full of  interesting people and good food. It was a magical night. Now, I leave you with two commissioned pieces that I finished this month: "Harnessing Bird Energy II" and "Mermaid Figure Head". The Mermaid is going to go live in Japan. I have two pieces that were accepted into the Gilmer Arts 2017 Juried Arts Exhibition this year.  The Opening is Saturday Feb. 26th from 5-7pm if you are in the area. On Friday February 17, 2017 I will be giving a slide talk at Roswell Visual Arts Center at noon to talk about my work that is currently up at Roswell Clay West. The talk begins at 12 noon and lunch will be provided. I am looking forward to sharing my work. Friday night's opening was wonderful! Thank you to everyone that showed up- we had over a 100 people and it was such a pleasure! Thank you to Trader Joe's for helping out with the cheese and crackers and having Amy come to explain the wines that Heida and I had picked out for the show.  Here are some photos from the night before the crowd and a couple during.. thanks to Melanie Ferguson for capturing the evening.
